The system itself shouldn't be leaking water. There should be no water in the system. Condensation forms on the accumulator/dryer and that's usually what you see dripping down onto the ground. That is normal. On the '99 the compressor isn't on the passenger side but I don't know where it is on the '00. Either way, you shouldn't have water leaking out of the compressor.

ya like i said complete noob when it comes to ac its prob what you said its not a ton of water just drips were is the dryer acumulater located and what does it look like i could see if that is what it is and thx for the info

The accumulator/dryer is located on the passenger side of the vehicle near the firewall. It looks like a black cylinder. I'll look for a thread with a picture in it and see if I can link to it for you.

no need thats exactly were its dripping from lol i thought that was the compresser told you i R a noob thx for the help

well,

a few weeks ago i bought a 2008 ford ranger extended cab 4 x 4. its' just awesome, but i discovered that my heater wasnt' working, so they checked it out when i brought it back to get its' tow hitch on and bed liner and they said it was the switch-heater blower motor, and now it works nicely, then it started raining here and it was very humid, and i noticed water dripping underneath the ranger, in the exact same spot previously mentioned.

i took it to the shop today cuz i thought something was really wrong.. heh i thought maybe they forgot to connect a hose or something, i was thinking heater / ac / maybe connected, but they said it was normal.

i can see that black cylinder and it looks like its' sweating water.. like condensation, when you touch it, its' really cold.

anyways, your not alone.. ahah ! love my ranger. :)

The evaporator can condense water and there is a drain tube under the evap chamber. In hot climates with humidity you often see puddles of water collecting under the firewall evaporator drain as a car sits. It is not uncommon for water to condense on the accumulator as well.

thanks for the information, i work for CAA road assist, and i hardly ever get any calls for the ford rangers, boost, keys locked in, sometimes a will not start, but other than that, i havent' had any serious problems, even the older ones, now the ford explorer is different, heh, we get calls for them, all the time.

i wanted to get some step bars, think lordco would have some, or should i get them from ford ?
