Hey i hope yall can help me out....i made a trip down to the beach this weekend and was driving from panama city to destin....when i got to destin i turned off my explorer and the ac stayed on and on and on....i can turn it to the off position and it will still stay on until moved from the "max" setting. also it acts as if my key is in the ignition at all times....whenever i open a door i get the beeeeep and its just weird... i do have an audiovox remote start that i'm going to take out and see if that remedies the problem thought i dont believe it has anything to do with it...but its worth a shot....any ideas anyone???

If I understand you right, your fan is running even with your key off...right??? If I read my "ugly fonts" on my 96 cd manual (you get what you pay for I guess .... :-)...), pull the "6" fuse in the interior fuse box (hopefully its that same in 98). This should kill the high speed blower motor relay which normally should not be operating without a key (note... the fuse also has some other stuff on it that will not work as a result). If this "solves" you problem, then you need to find out why the relay is pulling up without a key. If you have EATC, then that maybe explains it and perhaps the module is flakey. Need more input....:-) hope it helps a bit.

i am thinking the ignition switch myself

ok problem solved....one of the relays under the hood was stuck....replaced it today with a bosch relay and all is well....( relay # 7 or 8 i dont remember exactly which one it was)
