My wife and I are looking to buy or first Explorer.. We need a V8 for towing her horse trailer and my bike trailer and the Explorer looks like a good choice. I have always liked the looks of the Explorers and now seems to be the time, but I admit.. I'm ignorant of them ... I don't know what I should or should not be looking for... hence this request for advice..
Have found a 99 Explorer LIMITED in absolutely perfect condition.. and beautiful with 105K on it.. the dealer is asking $9900 with an optional $230 6 month full warranty. Obviously I can talk him off that price, but....
1. This is more miles than I had hoped to find... Are these engines "long-termer's..?? Should I be afraid? Or should it not even be an issue? Opinons? I drove it and it rides damn good.
2. How are these for towing? Opinions?
3. Anything I should know about this year model? Should I keep looking for one with lower miles?
Any advice would be appreciated.. Please responde directly to me at pirate@acelink.net if possible..
