Hello ,

Many thanks to those that provided advice as to how to remove the radio from my 98 Explorer!. The radio works fine, am/fm,casette and CD, but the display (digital readout) does not work. So I can't see what station I am on nor what track the CD is playing or even the time. So, I am faced with a choice - try to get this fixed or replace the radio. Dealer cost are too high for me, SOOO, does anyone know of an after-market ( prefer web-based site) for Stock or replacement radios? I much prefer to have a radio that is a replacement so that I don't have to cut, trace and figure-out all the wires - plug and play. ???

they make wiring kits that are pretty much painless for our trucks. i was able to put an aftermarket radio in my truck in about 20 minutes. to answer your question, ive never heard of anyone making them, but im sure if you put a thread in the "for sale" section of this web site, there are a BUNCH of people with the radio your looking for. or, you could try ebay. good luck man!

You can get any aftermarket head unit you want and plug it right in. Your 98 had the amp in the stock HU so you don't have to worry about the amp bypass.

You'll just need a wiring adapter kit and a mounting kit.
