Hello everyone, First post..............I own a ,03 xlt. It has been a fairly reliable truck...I do my own maintainance on it, oil changes to brake work. The problem I have right now is with the srs system, the air bag light would flash after start-up and then stay on...I replaced both pretensioners and now it is flashing a code 42. I see where this is indicating a crash which it has not been in..................If anyone might know what I should look at next I would appreciate the help............thank-you

Thank-you for your reply. Would this mean a broken wire or a bad sensor? I've pulled the connecter and cleaned the ends.there was some corrosion but nothing that looked that bad. I can replace the sensor but will the hard code in the srs com need to be reset with a diag tool or will it reset when the batt is disconnected ? Again thank-you for your time...............By the way my name is Larry.................Glad to have found this forum...

The battery should always be connected before working on the SRS system. You have to wait at least 10 minutes for the module's internal battery back up to discharge before you start to work on anything. You could unplug the module, and perform a continuity check on the wiring of that sensor by disconnecting the sensor, and testing the individual wires going to the sensor.

welcome
