Hi All,
Can anyone tell me where the air bag sensor(s) are? I did a body lift and relocated the bumper, but much more of the front is exposed now and I want to know if there is a way my air bag could just go off.
Thanks,
-E

im not sure but i dont think it could just go off...it should still take the same amount of force on the car to set it off...

o yah if u do move it be VERY carefull u dont want one exploding inside your nice clean car lol

ALWAYS unplug the battery cable and wait 15 minutes before messing with the airbag sensor.

The problem is, I don't know where the sensor is. I had the battery unpluged while I did my body lift, but now I feel nervous about driving it on the highway. I feel like a rock is going to jump up and hit the sensor since the front end is much less protected now.

A rock flying down the highway will not set off an air bag.
Inside the module is a magnet with a ball bearing. When the vehicle stops suddenly it breaks the force of the magnet and then the ball bearing shoots forward and makes contact with three contacts. This completes a circut *BAM*! Your aig bags have just deployed.
As far as I know Ford is the only one to use a magnet.
Every body else seems to use a spring and some sort of ball or some thing.

Sudden stop. It is all about inirtia ( sp?)

Thanks MONMIX. That makes sense.

Inertia. Yes, you're right, and it has to a significant impact to cause the sort of force that is necessary to set them off. A rock will not set them off (unless it weighs 10 tons that is).
