Hey, I noticed the plastic aitr intake that goes into the air box (whatever the air filter's in) from the bottom is worn at the bottom. By wirn I mean there's big old hole worn in it (the only thing I can think of is that crud from the road over the years has worn the hole in it). Anyway, would it give me any more power to replace it? Is a replacement necessary (could it be harming the engine?), beacuse Ford wants 80 bucks for a new one. Thanks for replies on this and to those who've helped in the past -- I'm gradually fixing everything that needs to be fixed!

Hi, The more you can get into your engine the better and more powerful it can be. Since it costs $80 to fix, I would just buy a KKM Filter then just take out the old airbox. That way you can get added power for only $20 more.

Another option is to modify your airbox. Its free and gives as much or more power. Read this:
