It would seem that my alternator ('91 EB 4x4) is overcharging (all lights flickering at idle) Dealer wanted $260 for ONLY the alt. I can get it for half that myself.
I don't have a Haynes manual - yet
What do I need to do to change the alternator ?
Do I need any - ANY - special tools ?
any gotchas ?

I searched the forums & FAQ, but couldn't find anything dealing with the actual replacement...

TIA

No special tools should be needed except for a pipe and a rachet with the appropriate socket sizes. You'll need the pipe for more leverage while turning the pulley tensioner. All you have to do is rotate the tensioner to remove the belt and then unbolt the alternator, etc.
