- 2000 limited 5.0L v8
Hi guys,
So Ive had an ongoing problem with my 2000 explorer limited 5.oL v8. Originally I thought I had a bad battery because it was draining alot, so I replaced it. Fixed the problem for a short period of time till it started draining again several months later. So this time I checked the alt.,and got a reading of 12.2v and 30 amp output, so the alt. is bad..........right? So i replaced the alt., replaced the battery a second time and with fingers crosed started her up. started no problem, yea! drove her about 50 miles before shuting her down and she wouldnt start again
Got a jump, took her over to autozone and put her back on the meter and got the exact same low reading on the alternater as my old one. 12.2 and 30. WTF? could bad wires/harness be cutting down the power my alt is putting out whats my next step here. Please keep in mind that $ is a serious problem at the time.
Oh, and is the voltage reg. built into the alts on a 2000? and what range in model years are the wire harness' compatable if i can find it at the pick a part?
