97 xlt
I have a 97 xlt and I got the pro comp add a leaf and was also wondering who makes shackles for these? also does it look right with both the TT and shacles? is it a really stiff ride then? and also should the front shocks be changed? are the pro comp shocks any good or any other recommendations? also what would be a good street tire? thinking 32x9.50" on stock rim. Sound any good? Thanks in advance to any that post.

I would start by searching "warrior shackles" and "tt" or "tortion twist". Your stock shocks will work with the lift you want to do. As for tires its all a matter of what you want to do with your x. Personally I like BFG All Terrains for a good look, some off road capability and a still relatively quiet on road ride.

We just had the TT & shackles done (no add-a-leaf). Back sags a lil bit but we had that before the lift. I would imagine that if you do shackles & add-a-leaf the back will probly sit a little higher than the front.

I have the pro comp es9000's(gas shocks). They arnt that expensive (like $35 each) & give a nice firm ride. Not the best shocks but I think they were worth the cash. I would say get new shocks. Youll have less downward suspension travel up front after the TT.

Ive never had bfg's on a truck. We have pro comp a/t's at the moment. Nice tire for the pavement. They do well off road but I cant recommend them to anyone that goes on rocky trails, sidewalls arnt that thick. Ours is a daily driver & go wheeling @ least twice a month. Have close to 40k miles on them with about 1/4 tread left.

A really nice tire for all round are the superswampers truxs sts. They are pretty cheap, look cool, work well in about anything but mud & have nice thick sidewalls. Downside, they dont come any smaller than 33x12.5 for 16" wheels.

explrths yours was one reason I was thinking about doing this. I like yours. the body lift is a little too high for me though just because of kids. I was thinking BF's also. just because when I do go off roading it is always in mud and they seem to be better than the pro comps and swampers are just too loud for me on the hiway. but they definitely look cool. and that is the reason I got the add a leaf is to correct the rear sag. keep recommendations coming and thanks for the ones posted. :)

Here's mine back when it just had 2" TT WAR-153 shackles and the pro-comp AAL. It sat level but I can't find a shiny driveway pic.

Ride was a bit stiffer than stock and I continued to use the stock shocks though I later upgrade to Monroe Reflex's which are now dead and awaiting replacement. Thinking Rancho 9000's this time around.

Tires are 30x9.5
