Hey fellas,

About to buy an Explorer tomorrow...thought I'd drop by and see some of the things that can be done to modify it. Want to learn how to make it a better truck to get around in.

See you all around...

welcome. what part of wa? if your northern, we have a club run this sunday. im sure if you get yourself there you can ride with people. i wont have room, but i know a few that will. do you like lifted or streeted ex's? our club is mostly lifted, also what year '05? not too much you can do lift wise, a body lift will get you to 33's with a lil cutting. or for the lowered ex, im not too sure. oh yeah, make sure you use the "search" function, most ppl dont help unless you do, but i will help direct you to the answers whenever. oh one last thing, beware this site is addicting, and once you start modding your ex, with the knowledge on this site, you wont stop,

take it eay man,
Chris

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the welcome. I'm down in Tacoma...

Looks like you're club is doing off-roading? It may take me awhile to get up to that...Right now I'm mainly interested in making it look good, sound good and run fast. Guess I'll search to see what muffler will give the V6 some better sound.

I know about addicting sites. I'm also with Corvetteforum.com...I have over 4,700 posts on there...

In Tacoma, huh. I'll be down there this saturday. Sunday im headin up for that run.

right on. yeah thats what we do, offroadin. i started to make my ex a streeter, loud pipes and i had plans on a street suspension, then i had a lil more money and got the lift instead. good luck on your build, as for muffler i always recomend a flowmaster, which one depends on your preference. get a cold air intake, and there is a guy on here from bamachips.com, idk if he has stuff for your year, but he should just do a search. he does computer chips, and is very used and abused by this site. not literally. there is one ex your model year, that is yellow and lowered, i like it, i dont remember his name but im sure you will cross his path, well take it easy,
Chris

Another Explorer owner in WA....cool!...

I'm one of the FEW 'streeter' X owners in these parts....

I own a `92 Explorer, dropped 5", shaved all around, CanDo Rollpan, rolling on 18" Saleen rims, and I also have a `93 Explorer 4x4. Almost all stock, but we may lift it in the near future...if we don't get my father-in-laws `02 Mountaineer.

Ryan

Hey Ryan,

Yeah, I guess that's what I'm going to most likely be...a "street" Explorer. I like my vehicles to look sharp and go fast. Not an off-roader much at all.

Got the 4x4 mainly to deal with the snowy mountain passes in Winter and the occasionaly snow around here...and also so I could keep the Vette in the garage during rainy weather.

I'll be looking for ideas and pics of mods you all do to the Explorer...I know I have a lot to learn.

See ya...

Welcone to the site. They really have some good lookin Xs on this site. Excluding mine which is more for parts chasing, soccer dad, hunting, fishing and doing Dirt tests.
Oops, allmost forgot that I'm doing a rear wheel bearing test right now.
Look at pics of the Alaskan boys X, you and him ought to hook up
