Ok now I've got 4x4 problems. The switch on the dash has 2HI, 4HI, and 4LO. 2002 Sport trac.

This all happened after I disconnected the battery to reset some engine codes I had. After I reconnected, I had no 4x4 when I tried it 3 days later. I don't know if this would be related or not. (Just some extra info)

This is the problem.....Turn the switch on the dash to go into 4HI or when I put the truck into Neutral to go into 4LO and I don't get anything. No dash lights, no click from the passenger front kick panel, no familiar transfer case clunk as it goes into 4x4, NO NOTHING! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!

Today, checked the transfer case shift motor and took it apart following brains thread, Click here, Transfer case shift motor looks fine inside and out. As a matter of fact, it almost looks new. Then went into the dash and pulled out shift switch and took that apart. I cannot tell but visually this looks good too.

So where do I go from here? I'm leaning towards the dash switch because I do not even hear a click at the 4x4 control module. If the switch was bad, I wouldn't hear a click at the 4x4 module or get dash lights, correct? If the 4x4 control module was bad, I wouldn't hear the typical transfer case shift clunk as it was shifting into 4x4, correct?

I need this fixed. I'm going up to my parents to ski this next weekend and I will probably need the 4x4.

Thanks.

I should mention that no fuses are blown either.

4x4 gone bad

Joey, my problem was the 4x4 control panel in the passenger side kick panel.

Symptons were no lights in the dash for 4HI or 4LO AND no "click" from the 4x4 module in the passenger side kick panel when I turned the selector knob on the console.

I pulled the 4x4 control panel (it's easy to get out) and took the old part into my Ford Dealer. It was $250 for the replacement part. Nobody else stocks it (I checked around). I took the part in because they usually order the wrong part otherwise.... Takes about 15 minutes to pull the panel.

It sounds like your 4x4 control panel is bad if you're not getting that click.

Oops, Thanks for the reply. It is the 4x4 control panel. I took it into ford on Saturday and they told me that is what it was. Fixed now!
