Another T-STAT question.....

OK, I know our trucks use a 195*F t-stats. From everything I've read on this site this is what we want...in that colder settings will cause a rich fuel mixture and in turn cause poor gas mileage and performance. Then I found this....http://www.truckperformance.com/the...1.57&make=FORD&year=1995&model=ALL&engine=ALL . Here it says a lower t-stat will increase performance....what gives?

I believe these thermostats are designed to be used with a Hypertech chip. Since the chip reprograms the air-fuel curve, a lower coolant temp is probably part of the equation. If you're running a stock ECU, the 195 is the one you need for everything to work properly.

I've got the chip installed, the t-stat is still in the top off my toolbox.One of these days I'll get off my lazy a** and install it, let you know then..
