I've been chasing this for a while. 2 new gas caps. Replaced multiple hoses. Cleaned and inspected the purge valve (appeared clean and in good shape). This is a long process, since it can take 2 or 3 weeks for the light to come back on.

Yesterday, I was inspecting the evap hoses up behind the fuel cap area. The one hose that stops just below the metal fill tube and is capped with a small plastic vent cap had a small split near the edge. I repaired it. The split was only about 3/8*. I would be surprised if the system could detect that. The plastic cap couldn't seal well as it is just plastic...no gasket, o-ring, etc. Do you think a small split in the hose could trigger the code? I'm also wondering if the light will go out and how long it will take, if this was the culprit. Any ideas?

I think that hose with the vent cap is for your axle vent and has nothing to do with your fuel system.

I think the vent for the rear diff is a little bigger and stops down lower. Same concept, though. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought I remembered seeing it when I last checked my diff fluid. The capped hose I'm talking about looks like a 3/8" and literally stops right below the fuel filler neck. It was zip-tied together with 3 or 4 other hoses.

Can anyone confirm? I may be back to square one. :salute:

While on vacation, I stopped to fill up and happened to notice a couple drops of gas hit the ground below the fuel fill area...coming from behind the quarter panel. I looked underneath and could see moisture around the end of the rubber hose right where it connects to the metal filter neck. I'm guessing it's the classic rust problem these have. I never really suspected the filler neck because it didn't look rusty at all. After doing some research, however, I am fairly certain this is the problem. Water collects around the top of the hose and rots out the metal tube.

I'm going to order me a new one and get this fixed.
