Hi and welcome to the site!

If you have a light in the dash (should say ANTITHEFT) they you have factory immobiliser/alarm system. Once you lock the door either with a key or a reamote the alarm is turned on. When you unlock the door you turn it off...

all the best!

Actually I believe all of the ex's had the light, it just isn't functional if you don't have it. I know mine has the light, it just doesn't work because I don't have anti-theft. You should know if you have it, because then it should have keyless entry.

you might be missing your remotes then since Eddie Bauers and Limiteds had alarms from the factory...

check it - open the driver window - close the door, lock it, wait for the "AntiTheft" light to go out, open the door from the inside... alarm should go off

turn off with a key at the lock - turn lock as you would un-lock the door.

Antitheft system

I believe that ...I never have see light on......I installed an alarm system external..correct functionally..but the antitheft system in the explorer stay with light off. My explorer don't have keyless entry !!,,,,just typical key for open the door. When I see the electrical wiring diagram in the Chilton, appair that system, but how I can locate in the engine?..what is the position for check it??

but what are you looking for?

Not all of the Eb's did, mine doesn't

Edit: His profile says his is an XLT anyway, so it doesn't have it. All I am saying is that all first gen explorers had the spot for the light, and just because that is there, doesn't mean you have it.

if its there the light comes on or blinks when the doors open...the keyless/security module is located above the drivers side rear wheel well, can be seen if you look inside the jack storage door

Thanks

Thanks my friendS...I think my Explorer is XLT but don't have Antitheft system....your answers help me very much !!
