hi, i have a 2001 Explorer SLT 2wd, 4dr, 4.0L SOHC, w/auto trans. it is showing 134k on the speedo, but it was purchased on a salvaged title so who knows. the engine has the usual timing chain death rattle and needs intake "o" rings, but other than that it runs pretty well and I like it alot. I've put 5k on it since i got it and it seems to be no worse for wear.
today I met a guy at AZ who says he's got a 2004 mustang with a 4.0 SOHC with 53K on it. He said he'd sell me the motor for $500 if i pull it. that's all i know about the car/engine except that and it's a 5-speed.
my question is, is the 2004 4.0 SOCH a good choice for an engine swap into my explorer, or are there better timing chain setups on later model stangs? even though i don't need the engine right now i'm considering getting it.
