Any Trails Near Portland, OR???

Hey, I'm pretty knew to the off-roading world. I've had my X for a year, but am just starting to take it off-road. Anybody know some good places around here? I'm currently in Troutdale, so some trails around Mt. Hood would be best. My X is stock, so nothing too tough, just somewhere to get it dirty and get some experience off-roading.

There are a bunch of logging roads around there, but most of them are barricaded. The place we go to is Browns Camp which is off of Highway 6.

I don't know of any places around Hood. Wish I did, wouldn't mind a bit of change from Browns Camp.

Like Pahelo said, we go to Brown's Camp out in Tillamook Forest. We took stock F-150, Expedition and Z 71. Granted they have a bit more clearance than your stock Explorer, but if you are careful, there is alot of fun to be had there.

Thanks guys. I've heard of people going out to Tillamook, just not so sure I want to make the drive. There's a place out around Estacada that I've been going to, I'm just looking for some change. Maybe sometime I can talk some buddies into going out there. I know there's gotta be some places around Hood, I knew people back in high school who went up that way all the time, too bad I don't know how to get hold of any of them.

Yeah I'd be up for that (especially now that we're starting to get snow!). I'm trying to find people around who know what they're doing to go with.

nah, there is more. they just aren't very active lately (or so it seems). I know 2 out in troutdale, not counting you, and 3 of us around Beaverton (even tho, one owns a *cough* heep, instead of an exploder hehe)

Hey now. I know I made a mistake by selling my last Ford, but ammends will soon be made. Looks like I'm trading in the Heep for a 2004 FX4 Supercrew. Then I'll have something to tow around my Exploder trail rig. Damn, life is good.

Umm theres Girlpower4X4, Pahelo (He and I go wheeling together), 97sllim726, Boobie (I forget the exact name) and ME (at least that I know of)

Now I have seen 3 more LIFTED explorers around beaverton. I don't know if they visit the board or not. Nor have I got the chase to chase em down to talk to em. I think its a curse, I only seem to see them when I am REALLY low on gas, or running late for work.

lol, yeah, i know what you mean. I saw 2 lifted explorers around here yesterday that I've never seen before. Hmm...maybe it's them.

i realise this thread is from 2003 but if you dudes are still around oregon lets get a oregon run going. i knw some trails in memaloose, indian henry (both just past estacada) i know of a couple rock pits by my place. or we can just go to TSF or sand lake
