Hello! Has anyone tried or heard of installing a drain plug on the transmission pan to a :exp: 4x4 A4LD? Any info will be appreciated. thanks!

First let me welcome you to the website.I am sure you will learn a lot from these guys.

I have not put one on an A4LD, however, I put one in the C5 I replaced it with. I had to drill a 1/2" hole to put it in (yours may be different). I chose the side of the pan between where the bolts go up. With a 4X4 I didn't want it sticking down like the instruction say. I bought it at O'reilly auto parts.

When I pull the pan again I will tig weld it in place though. It tries to trun when I drain the fluid and I don't like having to use two wrenches. :p

you replaced your A4LD with a C5? ive been thinkin along the lines of that b/c my A4's last anywhere from 8-12 months....the transmission shop that i sell sparts to as well as good friends with the owner mentioned something about a TH700R-4 conversion that will allow a 700 to be bolted to a 4.0L

Yeah, the advanced adapter is big bucks, but you have OD.

My C5 is not OD (3 speed auto), but was cheap to do. Pretty easy swap too. Only had to have the rear driveshaft lengthened ($50) as far as anyone elses labor. You do realise I am talking about my ranger? They only work in the 4X4 version though. I love my C5. :D
