I came across this video about this guy and his engine problems on youtube. Apparently there's an issue with the turbocharger seals that caused exhaust to leak into the oil or something? I'm worried because I have two Ecoboost engine vehicles and I do have a lot of smoke come out of the tailpipe out of those two vehicles at idle, but not as heavy as his. Anyone has this issue? Also, how do you diagnose a bad turbo or coolant leak?

Never experienced any issues, however I have a friend with an early 2011 F150 that had some issues around 130k miles. I think there may have been some issues early with all kinds of stuff, but that is pretty common with all new things. Turbo charging in general has been around for many many years. Borg Warner and Garret Turbos are pretty bullet proof. If I'm not mistaken that is what Ford uses for their turbos. I have a Garret on my 87 Buick GN that is still going strong with no issues. I would not be too concerned.

Remember, Ford is the Turbocharging king selling more of these things probably than anyone else. These vehicles have been known to emit black smoke and soot from the exhaust. Do some research on that and you will get all kinds of threads on that. Run good gas, maintain the vehicle as recommended and drive it. You will be fine...
