Just looking for some members here that might be near Charleston, SC or might be in South Carolina. No such things as too many wheeling buddies

Glad to see there are some local members here. I guess the reason I posted this thread is because March 8,9,10 2013 myself and a buddy have planned a trip up to Gulches ORV Park in the Greenville area. We have never been and I have been really wanting to go. If anyone here is interested in joining us please come on out. My number is 843-833-2167. You can call/text or message here!

I will be going to Gulches sometime in the spring. Haven't decided when yet. I'll follow this thread and if you nail down a date I'll see if I can do it then. Always interested in meeting other forum members.

Also going to try to make a run at Beasley Knob sometime in the spring. I may only get to do one, though.

Well are date is set for March 8,9,10 2013. That is my spring break week so its really the only one I am available. My expo won't be ready for the trip so I am going to be wheeling my Bronco II. I have never been so it is going to be an experience for me :D We will probably get up there friday evening and wheel through sunday evening.

Where is that? I havent ever heard of it.

Sweet! That might have to be my next off road trip during the summer! That's about a 6 hour drive for me, but it looks like a "must-make" trip!!

Gulches is great, something for everyone. There's another park near you that 01STrunner recently posted about that I had never heard of. If you're looking for more than a web wheeler that will actually be on trails near you frequently, he's one of them.

im not too god awful far away. im up in newport tn. we've got one local trail up here but it sucks ( maybe thats why its called cow-****... lol) my completely stock ex will make it up through it with no problems on street tires lol. im doing TT and shackles some time within the month of feb. maybe ill meet up with you if thats alright with you guys :)

I've got something else planned that weekend or I would come out. I'm only about an hour away from Gulches.

Hey buddy come on out my b2 is all stock with only some 30" bighorns. I am buying a cheap 5000 lb winch from harbor freight to take just so i dont have to worry about getting too stuck on the trails. My cell is posted above and my name is jason. So far its only me the girlfriend and two of my buddies with full size trucks so they probably wont be on many trails with me. I emailed skip up at gulches and ill probably make reservations around feb 18-20 so let me know buddy and you're more than welcome to join.

I wouldn't waste your money on that winch if you're just doing it for going to Gulches. First off, you need more than a 5000 lb winch to be safe. Second, Gulches is a pretty small place and there's always people around that will be willing to help you out.

You'll have a good time. If you can get one of the rangers to show you around go for it. Dean and Miller and several others are there almost every weekend.

My little bronco only weights 3,000 pounds you don't think that a 5,000 lb winch would suffice?

ok I just had the thought but I might see if there are any local places that rent winches.

Ebay has a Tuff Stuff winch 9,500 lb for $299 so that's only $100 more than the one I was gonna buy.

friggin' sweet! it will probably be me and the wife if i can convince her to go... it scares the **** out of her when im checking out the top half of our property (old logging trail) and i set the ex on 3 wheels or climb over stumps and downed trees. lol. i have scars in my arm from her digging her nails in because of this lmao.

whats the cost of the reservation?

Rule of thumb is to double the weight of the rig and that's the minimum you should get. I bet yours weighs more than you think too. My samurai weighs 3,100 lbs. I have a smittybilt xrc 8000lb and I have been in situations that bog it down.

I've never heard of Ruff stuff but the smittybilt is $299 also. I would go with that if you're going to get one. My point was you don't need to have a winch just for Gulches. There will be people there to help, although its always good to have one if you're by yourself.

The website says that you will receive your $20 deposit once your site is inspected. The weekend pass is $50 plus there is a first timers fee of $5. Then it is an extra $5/day per passenger. So itll be like $65 for a weekend pass for you and the wife. The campsites are $10 a tent per night. My girlfriend is the same way. Every time I take the Bronco 2 wheeling she has to get out because she gets scared lol. When I call up there I will see what the reservations are but I doubt they are much.
