recommendations on sway bars

i have a 92 XLT 4x4. anyone know the size of the front and rear sway bar?

what aftermarket companies make swaybar upgrades for this vehicle? what size are they? where can i get them? what do they cost?

anyone upgrade their sway bar? which brand did you go with? where did you get them from? how much did you pay? are you happy with your upgrade?

any recommendations on which company to go with? i do 99% city driving. i drive very aggressively. i'm upgrading my tires to 31x10.5 to help with my ride.

THANKS GUYS!!!

I think the stock one is size too small. Yeah, Yeah... thats it. I upgraded mine with the explorer express one. I think its 1.125" or somewhere around there. I'm lowered so I had to put collets on the bar and that tightened it up a lot. Takes turns like a car now.

On your truck, you will need to upgrade BOTH the front as well as the reat. Your front bar is hollow.

I recommend Explorer Express as the source.

My handeling improved vastly with my bar upgrade,

Further, bw sure to go with poly bushings,

You will not need the split collets unless you are lowered.

Good luck....

Take a look....

Collets are clamps on the rear bar that limit lateral movement to prevent the bar from hitting the leaf spring on lowered exploers. That also tightens up the back end a bit.

Please explain how they tighten up the rear emd.

I understand their lateral movement function.

stock
front = 23 mm = 0.906 in
rear = 16 mm = 0.630 in

explorer express
front = 34.925 mm = 1.375 in
rear = 22.225 mm = 0.875 in

addco
front = 28.575 mm = 1.125 in
rear = 22.225 mm = 0.875 in

hellwig
front = 28.575 mm = 1.125 in
rear = 22.225 mm = 0.875 in

(all three kits come with urethane bushings)
proportionally, the explorer express bars increased the same. if i'm not mistaken, the X will react the same with less body roll. the addco and hellwig both are identical in size. they increased their rear sway bar but not their front sway bar as much, which would allow for more oversteer. doesn't that setup seem more beneficial for the X? keep in mind that my X is a city delivery truck. any other recommendations or suggestions?

are there any other sway bar companies out there for the X worth mentioning?

Just like installing stiffer bushings, the less movement there is the tighter everything is going to be. If you didnt have a suspension, you could take turns really fast but it would ride like crap.

I am still confused by this, If what you say is so, and I am not doubting you, then why are split colletts recommended only on lowered trucks?

Thanks.....

I dont know. I could be dead wrong but it makes sense to me that the less movement you have on the bar the stiffer everything is. I'd say email EE but you'd be luckey if you got a response.
