My wrench light popped on last night when I was driving home. The CEL was already on because of a p0442 (small evap leak) I’m dealing with. It drove totally fine the entire drive home. After I got home we unpacked the car and I came back out to use my SCT x4 scanner. When I plugged the scanner into the car and did diagnostics the only code I pulled was the p0442 which I already knew would be there. When I turned the car on the wrench light was gone but the engine was idling kinda rough for about a minute then smoothed out. I’ve heard the throttle body sensor is a common fault part and that would make sense because of the strange idle. I purchased an ELM327 adapter from amazon a while back but my tablet running forscan on windows 10 wouldn’t even detect the adapter when I plugged it in via USB port. I went to the forscan website and looked at their recommended ELM327 adapters and tried to look up a few online but found that they either had weird ordering instructions or weren’t available. I’d prefer to get a wired adapter versus blue tooth or WiFi. I have an iphone and iPad as well but would prefer to use my windows tablet as from what I’ve heard forscan runs best with windows. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, I really don’t want to go to the dealer. Thanks!

I'm running that against XP Pro.

Have not tried on Windows 7 or above.

I'm using Torque with my android phone. Are these other programs better/different?

Not sure, I’ve never used Torque, I actually never used forscan either but from what I understand it’s silimar to what the dealers use when it comes to diagnostics and reading all the codes. It gives you access to info that you can’t get with a standard code reader. I have forscan on my tablet and have played around with it but as I haven’t been able to hook it up to my Ex’s yet there’s not much else to tell you.
