Anyone try a colder plug in their 5.0?

We were at the local Ford Dealer today buying a $1.80 part. Talked to the Service Manager about the ongoing pinging and he told me "when they've verified all the normal things - fuel filter, EGR, mixture, etc" - they've solved many by going to a colder spark plug. I know too cold you can have misfires and fouling. He said going just one level cooler hasn't posed any problems but solved pinging for many owners. Thoughts?

ive run colder plugs in a couple of my higher compression motors to help with detonation/pinping.it has helped,i would really do a super heavy seafoam and run the motor hard for a couple of day first then change to colder plugs if it still goes on
