I recently had $2000 worth of transmission work done to my 2004 XLT with only 50,000 miles on it. I had the torque converter, several pistons and rods, servos, and pump assembly replaced. I would like to find out how many others have had similar transmission problems. I know these transmissions have problems and I may seek some sort of suit against Ford if there are plenty of others with similar issues.

WOW! Not fun to find out. With all the problems my 2002 XLT 4x4 has, it makes me want to drive it off a cliff!

hey

SHHH! Mine's out in the driveway... I'm afraid the transmission might hear you! :D

Don't get me started...my 02 EB is in the shop right now getting the tranny replaced as we speak. Don't know cost yet...but i'm preparing the AMEX for the charge to come thru...oh the pain and suffering. i guess the good thing is that i get the point on my card...

I have a '04 too, but only 28k. Any history on the XLT? Org owner? Build Date? transmission recall done? I'm thinking of getting the tranny flush now?
No problems with my '04 at the moment.

Same old same old with ford transmissions - I had an 1993 explorer and the tranny went a year after the warranty expired. Paid $2300 cnd in 1994, now my 03 is making noises again and I'm getting ready to take it in. I have 76,000 kms on it - not bad for a 4 year old car. That's why I got the extended warrant this time but it still makes me PO'ed. They should take a lesson from GMC on their trannys.
