Ok, My 92 X is approaching 200,000 miles, on my orginial tranny and engine and id like to get as much out of her as possible. I was thinking about taking it into the Dealer and having them check it out, and get me up to date on all my routine matenance. I bought it at around 140,000 and tried to catch up on everything. Ill list everything i have had done, and if u guys could tell me what else to do i would appreciate it.

Oil/filter change every 3000

Tranny fluid complete change (jiffy lube machine) at 150,000,
Droped pan, changed filter and gasket at 175,000

Flushed radiator at 185,000

Jiffy Lube differential service at 150,000

New wheel bearings when replaced RA bushings at 175,000

New Front brakes, Rotors and Pads at 150,000

New Shocks 175,000

All grease fittings checked at 175,000

KKM filter on. Clean once a year.

New Tires

Changed Plugs and wires at 160,000

Amsoil Power Foam cleaning Once a year,

Chevron Techtron Fuel Injector Cleaner every 6,000

I can't think of anything else. It runs great, Idles smooth and quite, Good Acceleration with 31's. Get 18 +/- mpg without overdrive.

What do u guys suggest to keep it running??

I was thinking of switching to Sythentic Tranny Fluid, What should i go with? Mobil 1, or Amsoil? Im figuring im gonna have to replace/rebuild soon so i don't want to spend a fortune on fluid then have to replace it again.

Well with whatever tranny fluid you go with, have it changed again now. Also change the PCV valve. That's all I can think of right now.

THnx this might sound like a dumb question, but where is the PVC valve located on a 92? I couldn't find it, and i don't think walmart had one either. THnx

Wal Mart has a lot of stuff, I agree, but they don't carry that. Go to your local auto parts store.

I think the PCV valve is located on the right side (facing the front of vehicle) towards the back of the motor. That is the general area i think. Someone else can correct me and/or be more specific.

Good luck, I am getting anxious to hit 200,000 miles. I've got 155,000 on mine now.

Yep, when facing the motor the pcv valve is on the right side valve cover.

Is it that thing that all the vaccuum hoses plug into?

yes, pop it out and if it rattles leave it in. or replace b/c they are so cheap.

I can't think of anything either. I wouldn't worry too much about spending a great deal of money on tranny fluid cause you're one of the lucky ones to already be close to 200k on the original tranny. My '92 got 186k out of the original and then an additional 90k after the rebuild. Although I am wondering if maybe a complete tranny flush and fill would make a difference in the lifespan?

I'm impressed that you've only needed rotors once...seemed like I changed them twice a year, but I racked up the miles quickly.

Hmmm...what else may fail soon:
Air conditioning compressor
Door Hinges
Possibly the RABS (rear abs) valve

But, if its not broke, then don't fix those.

complete tranny flushes are a VERY good thing to do. I was having problems where my 92 x wouldnt shift into 2nd gear till it warmed up(10 minutes of being in 1st gear). I had a complete flush done on it, and it worked like a champ.

Ive only had to replace the rotors and pads once, I bought it at 138,000 so i don't know how many set it went through before me. I just had the A/C system retrofitted for R134 so i have a new compresor, condensor, the whole bit. I just found out today that my Electric Hubs don't work.

WHat im plannin on doin is waiting till next year when i get out of school. When im gonna put on a Skyjacker 2" lift, new ball joints, and Warn Manual Hubs.

I don't putt on many miles at school so im not to worried about it, until i get it home.

Don't get me wrong i have replaced many parts. New starter, All the U-joints, New alternator, New power steering pump, But im trying to avoid anything major. THnx for the help.

Do you think i should take it into the dealership and have them take a look?

If you have a lot of money- then sure. They will defanitly find something to replace and charge you out the a$$ for it.

As for your electric hubs, I'd say the problem is in your transfer case motor or related to it. Search on here for 4wd problems or transfer case. Almost all of the '91-'94 models have the same problem.
