2011 ford explorer LTD
Hello.
I own a 2011 ford explorer LTD edition with premium sony sound system.
some of the touch buttons of the radio front panel as well as hazard lights touch buttons were not working, so I bought whole front panel from a 2013 explorer LTD on ebay for $250.00
I take the vehicle to a Local FORD dealer and they told me THEY CAN NOT PROGRAM THE PANEL THAT I BOUGHT because I did not buy it from them.
So my question is, some one knows what kind of programming the dealer will perform..? what is the procedure to program it, or how to program the panel that I just bought ..something that can help me to have the new panel fully functional again..:(
thank you !!!!!!!!!!!

So you bought the actual button panel with the vents attached at the top? This is called the FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module). According to ALLDATA there is no flashing process listed. All the other modules that are behind it such as the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) will have to be reflashed. This part is the one that looks like a big heatsink box.

Should be able to replace it your self by removing the 2 trim pieces that go up and down the center stack and then removing the 4 bolts that hold the module in place. Then working from the bottom of the panel pull it away to release the clips holding it in.

My question is how many times are you going to ask this same question?

My guess is "at least 3". :D

To the OP - It would seem you have installed it and now it is not working. You can't reasonably expect the dealer to fix something they did not provide or install. They might, but it would be totally up to them. They don't want to own a problem that could be caused by a part you bought off eBay, nor should they.

Your big problem to start is verifying what you bought off eBay really works, that it is a direct replacement for a 2011 model panel, and that nothing else happened when it was being installed.

As noted elsewhere, there shouldn't be any "programming" involved in replacing switches.

thank you all for your support !!

These are two replies that I posted to your topic just prior to this one:

"I have access to the OEM Factory SM for your vehicle. I looked up the process for replacing the FCIM (thats the panel you want to replace) in the 2011 Explorer. It does not require a PMI (programmable module replacement) process. I would find out the full part number for the panel you currently have and search for it by that rather than guess if ones from other years will work.

Go to ebay and search "bb5t-18a802 explorer"

18A802 is the base part number and BB5T would be 2011 model units."

In addition your panel should have a sticker with that part number with a couple extra letters on the end. I would search for an exact match on that.

Anything that has a number different than that, especially the BB5T more than likely will not work.

I took the time to look all this up in order to assist you. Hopefully you take the time to consider what I have to say.
