Auto Hubs making a clicking noise

I have a 91 Explorer with the auto hubs and as I was pulling out of the drive yesterday the hubs started making a clicking sound like they are trying to engauge. I tried backing up 10 ft but it didn't seem to help. Any ideals what could be causing them to click? Thanks for any help...Larry

Sounds like it is time for some new hubs.Auto hubs are a weak spot on the first generation ex's

agree. the auto hubs on the first gens are about worthless. Go to manuals its cheaper and they are built better
