97 xlt sohc
Hello again
I just bought a 97 XLT sohc and I like it a lot.
Just got the rear axle replace for about 1200$.
I was wondering if it was time to change the oil in the auto tranny, since I hear it is pretty fragile. My X has 83K miles on it.
Any other advice to keep it up rolling?
Thank you!
Charles

Ford recommends every 30k miles. I personally recommend every 18 months or so, or every 15-20k miles.

This might help as well.

I would definately change it via the complete flush. I highly recommend full synthetic ATF.

Your 97' takes Mercon V tranny fluid.

Actually, on '97, Ford recommends Mercon III but using Mercon V is also okay.
