Automatic door locks

How do you turn off the automatic door lock? Whenever you put the truck in gear, the doors lock and I find it really annoying. I have a 2000 XLT auto, 4.0 V6
Also, how fast can you travel on the highway with a light to moderate snow covering in 4 wheel drive high? How long can you travel in 4 wheel drive, I sometimes travel up to 4 hours on snowy roads.

I have no clue about the door locks, but i might be able to answer the other questions. If I needed to use four wheel drive in the snow, especially on the highway, I wouldn't want to find out how fast I could go because I don't feel like getting into a nasty slide. In my manual, it says i can shift on the fly at up to 55mph, so I wouldn't see going much faster than that. For how long you can go, I'd say until you run out of gas. I hope this helps.

Don't you have the auto 4x4 option? Just use that for high speed driving.

about the doorlocks... there is something in my manual that says how to turn it off. check your manual. if its not in there let me know and ill see what mine says about it. all i remember is that it is a combo of buttons on the keypad with the keys in the ignition or something like that. let me know if you get it working. also, why do you find it annoying? the door unlocks when you open it. the only reason that i might not like it is because when i get out all the other doors are locked.

dunno about the later ones, but on my '95 the stupid autolock feature is turned off. I hate cars that make me feel like a imbecile and can't take care of myself by doing everything for me. Yes, I am a control freak I guess, maybe having something to do with my first car being power nothing equipped.

The sequence for turning it off (per the '95 manual) key on, hit unlock 3 times, key off, unlock 3 times, the horn will either do a really short beep=system off, or one short followed by a long blast=system on. or, enter the permanent keyless entry code then hold down 9/0 and press 3/4 either way should do it.

i think 55 is the fastest you can go w/ 4x4 on... Dont forget that just because you can go 55 doesnt mean you should.. 4x4 means you dont get stuck, but you'll slide just as easily as any other RWD car/truck.
