Check out the selection

at www.bulkpart.com and just how long is your driveway? Wouldn't think cooling would be a problem in winter. Would go with one that has low restriction in colder climates. Ford even has a "H" bypass for large coolers.

my driveway it about 125' long. then i will be doing my inlaws about the same and then a friends 50' for theirs. i was trying to find a way to help the transmition out.

any other ideas? suspension? i was thinking of getting blisten's adn new springs.

anyone????

What sized plow?

Well heat is going to be a big problem, even if you are pushing just a little. Your Torque Converter will be working hard. I would not get a tube and fin like you show, but a plate type made by B&M, or Earls. Check summit raicing for the b&M (if you search this site for coolers Im sure it will show up). Click on my photos and you can see the big B&M cooler I put on.

The plow itself adds all kinds of weight to the front end, may want to get the 1 1/2" lift springs to keep the truck from diving. I would get some good HD shocks no doubt, but bilstiens would be a bit much for a plow truck. Will the plow be mounted all season, or just as needed?

What gear ratio do you have currently?

Ive never had a plow on the Explorer, but I have driven one on a ranger that we used in small bank parking lots, and it did fine for that, and some clean up work. So the explorer should be fine for a few driveways.

The plow is a 6 1/2 foot Fisher Minute Mount, so it will only be on for plowing then taken off. so it won't be on very much. Mainly just when it snows. It is my spare truck so it isn't the daily commuter. so it doesn't get much use anyways. it is for moving stuff and plowing.

If I get the springs will I have to lift the back? The package for the X from Fisher comes with air bags for the front. Does that make a difference?

I have no idea what the gear ratio is. It is a 94 Sport. That is about all I could tell ya. Is there a place I could look that up on the truck?

I will check out the B&M thanks.

Ps- By the way SteveVB the plow would fit your Navajo as well. If you go to www.fisherplows.com and in search put explorer you will see it fits a 91-94 Explorer & Navajo and 92 Ranger.

If it comes with the air bags then you wouldnt need the springs- I was just suggesting since the plow adds considerable weight to the front end- but the fischer bags will take care of that.

Look either on the axle or the door sticker and you should get a code- and a search of this site will get it for you pretty quick- I would bet 3.55s with the sport but look it up to be sure- only reason is the trans (the torque converter) is going to have to work harder the higher geared (lower number) you are. If you have 3.73s then you may not need a cooler(although with the a4ld it wont hurt )

I have a 3/4 ton truck that I used to contract plow with, but the Navajo is my driver/play vehicle so no plow for it!.

Good Luck.

I use my 00 Ford ZX2 for my commuter. I wanted an F250 or Bronco for the plow truck but the wife liked the Explorer (which was ok with me) so we got that. I agreed only if it would take the plow. it does so i am happy. no place to go off roading that I know of so limited fun for me in the summer. do u know any place in NH?
