autotrans problem

Not long ago (couple months) I changed the trans. fluid pan gasket and flushed out about a gallon of fluid. Now, when the engine is cold, when I reverse out of the garage, a parking space, whatever, stop and put it into drive, it will shift out of reverse and sit in neutral. I have to run thru the gears on the column shifter half a dozen times or more before it will finally pop into gear. Once in drive it doesn't slip, and it seems that once the trans fluid is hot, reverse to drive shifts work fine. any thoughts?

Valva body O rings could need replaced.

Did you check the valve body gasket when the pan was off? The gasket could be bad or you might have loose valve body bolts. Check the fluid level to see if it's a little low.
