Hello,
We've only owned this truck for a few weeks, but we haven't had anything strange like this happen until now.

Wife left work for lunch break - no problems. Turned it off, got out for a few minutes, got back in. Started and ran fine, but will not shift out of park.

We're both clueless.

The shifter is located on the floor. I have noticed that when it's running in park and the brake pedal is depressed you can feel a "click" in the shift lever - which seems to be a release of some kind. I asked her if she felt that and she said no.

I'm going to be heading that way in the next hour or two and I'm just looking for any info that might help me figure out what's going on.

Check to make sure the brake lights come on when you step on the brake. If the brake pedal switch is not working then the truck "doesn't know that you are stepping on the brake".

found some info on line pointing to the brake light actuator.
Hopefully just some wiggling around on the brake pedal wiring/switch(es) will allow me to get it moving and at least get it home.

thanks rondo - we posted at the same time.

Good luck.

You may have a shift lock override switch on the underside of your steering column as well, tripped by inserting a thin screwdriver. Worst case scenario, that will let you get it moving back to your place till you can solve it.

Is that for the column shifter?
Aviators are on the floor.

You're correct. That didn't even click in me. I would suspect the center console shifter also has some kind of override available. I know some have them (other makes, that is). Look for a concealed or small slot nearby.

It was the switch up above the brake pedal. Only took a few minutes to get it rolling.

Strangely, it seems to be a mercury/level switch of some kind.
I didn't even have to touch the pedal to engage the switch. I just tilted it ever so slightly.

Hopefully this doesn't become a common occurance.
