My friend had a clutch put in his 2wd 93 ex. He was ripped nearly $2000 for the job by the time he replaced the y pipe and does not want to bring it back there! Ever since they did the job, he hasn't had reverse lights. I'm asuming they probably damaged the switch or pinched a wire during job. Can anyone tell me where the b u light switch is located so i can check/change it for him?

Thanx.

Excellent! Finally a use for what I did to mine. I put in a new transmission into my 1994 XL, same 5 speed manual that your friend has. If you lay underneath the truck on the drivers side, and look at the trans, the backup light connector is all the way on the top near the middle/front of the transmission. It will probably have a red plastic side of it, if you can see that. What may have happened is they just forgot to plug that in, there is a simple two wireplug that goes into there with a little snap connector around it. The switch itself has a wrench fitting on it and that screws into the side of the trans, and can be removed all right from this angle. I would hope that this is not bad on yours, as Ford wanted around $50 for it. I bet the plug is not connected. Check to be sure that it is, and then trace it and see if it's crimped. What happened to mine is the connector itself went bad inside, so I just made my own. I have to leave for work soon, but I will be home later tonight and if you'd like a picture of the connector I made compared to the new one and a location of it e mail me at monkeydude3@cs.com

Take care

Thank you George! I'll check that out for him tommorow. I will let you know if I need any more info and how I made out. Thanks again.

No problem. Me and three of my best friends spent many weekends doing a trans replacing job... three times!!! due to us getting DUD transmissions from this rebuilding place. So we know how it all mounts and connects up under there. I'll be glad to take any pictures of mine for you that could be of assistance. Feel free to drop me an email regardless, anytime!! Or IM me at monkeydude3
I'm always up for car talk
