They do tend to collect road grime. Shouldn't be to hard to pull the cover off to get to them. If you can, (I'm not sure with the 02+ because I've never had to work on one) try to get the sensors off first. You may have enough room to sqeeeeeeeeeeze them out.:dunno:

Back up Sensor

Thanks, the issue I have is that I am fairly certain the sensor is inserted in through the back of the bumper as I have seen the replacement part.

Not sure if the strip with the four sensors is removable from the bumper or the bumper itself must be removed, I kind of doubt that since the dealer was only going to charge about $100.00 in labour to put a new sensor in.

There is a running board on top of the rear bumper that looks removable perhaps that gives me acess??

you cannot remove the running board w/o taking off the bumper. first take out the taillights. there is one screw under each one that needs to come out. after that you must take out about ten of those black clips that hold on the bumper by the weatherstrip. then under the truck at the very bottom where the bumper meets the truck there is one screw on each side. after that you should be able to lift up on the bumper where it meets the body and pull it off. be carefull not to let the bumper fall and rip the harness for the sensors. that should be it.
p.s. i tokk off my bumper, cleaned every contact and sensor, and it still doesnt work.

Thanks, I will try that this weekend. I saw the black inserts and figured that was part of the process I just did not want to pull 10 of those out and find I still could not remove the bumper.

I know I have a bad sensor b/c I was able to get the dealer to do a circuit check on it wherein they identified the locatioon of the bad sensor cost 75.00 but was part of another diag they were doing bad ECU for remote entry.

A new sensor costs 100.00 from the dealer. I can probably do better on line. My strip only has four sensors, you could buy one sensor and try one by one maybe you will get lucky.

Funny thing the dealer keeps these in stock ... obviously there is an issue.;)

Your question did not say understand is blocking the rear bumper or rear safety bumper radar blocking the radar. If the rear bumper of the original block of radar that can not only be considered bad luck, who told you what to buy is not carefully examined. If the bumper is blocked after the security radar, it had not removed.
