i took my X to my mechanic today and it was detyermined that the famous 60 mph and up shake was b/c of my tires. they said they were worn uneven and cupped a little. i thought maybe it was th u-joints but they were fine along with everything else, ball joints,aligned,etc.,etc.. they said at that speed rating of 60mph and up i was getting the vibration from. anyone else solve the vibes with new tires? also what speed rating am i looking for in my new tires to be able to go high speeds? thanks

Sound's like unbalanced tires to me, that will cause a nice vibration. What kind of high speeds are you talking? Size?

actually the tires have been balanced and rotated often. it's just that they are no name tires(wide conquerors ?) and they came with the truck almost brand new and in a year they are worn. they obviously suck. by high speeds i just mean highway speeds like 60-80,85 mph. it was always aggravating on highways cuz the truck would shake like heel above 65 mph.

I use pirelli scorpians 255/55/18, great for handling, and they are a fair price, i think about 125 or so on the tirerack. I would also suggest a new alignment from a repudable shop.

actually i am probably getting the scorpion at's off of tirerack. 31's for only $81 ea. i think it is. also it was not an alignment. it has been aligned by a reputable shop twice in the last 4 mos. i had brake work done and shocks, so i got it aligned often. hoe are your pirellis on ride comfort? since they are a softer tire i heard that they ride nice. thanks for the help

hard to tell, my suspension is very tight, my x handles like a car but rides like sh*t. My overall ride quality sucks, so i can't give you an accurate assessment. Someone will see the post and tell you, if not i'm sure there is a ton of posts with those tires on em.

yeah, most siad they ride nice. but you have 18's, i'm talking 31's. is your X a sport truck? sport tires usually run a little rougher. especially with a performance suspension. thanks
