Ball joints for 99 Explorer XLT

I am confused, can the ball joints be replaced on my truck or do you have to replace the entire control arm. Autozone lists both so this is really confusing. Also any advice you may have would be greatly appreciated... especially in reference to tools needed... Thanks in advance!!!

This isn't exactly an "Explorer 911" thread, as this is not an emergency. This should be placed in the "General Explorations" forum. But to answer the question, you have to buy the whole control arm. It might cost you a little more money, but go to O'Reilly (AutoZone sucks!) and buy the Moog brand ones. If you're going through all the trouble to do control arms/ball joints, buy good ones that will last!

The lowers can be pressed out, just not the uppers.
