Hey guys, I made some battery cables out of some 4 gauge power wire. I went to take the stock cables out, figuring it would be pretty easy, but then I saw that they run down into the engine bay and under the engine I think. I couldn't see a whole lot, but do they run underneath the engine? Seems weird. Also, I couldn't see the spot on the alternator where the positive cable comes in.

Anybody that has installed some aftermarket battery cables on an 4.0 OHV, can you shed some light on this?

Hartman, the pos and neg cable both run down to the starter. There is a small gauge wire that splits off the neg wire to ground immediately after leaving the battery.

The Connection to the starter is held by a clip on the bottom of the motor/transmission....

Man what a pain in the arse.
