Hey, all, quick question. I just bought some top mounting battery blocks, the kind that sit on the post, rather than around it, and I've run into a problem. Somehow the negative post block striped itself, so now i can literally just pull the block off without even unscrewing it. I spent like 30 bucks on this thing, so I don't want to feel like it was a waste, so I need to know how to fix this. I know that the center of the block is 6" back from the hood bumper, 3" inward, and is ~1" tall, and I was thinking about getting some kind of material that I could attach to the bottom of the hood so that is smushes the battery block when I close the hood, but I don't know what to use. So that's my problem, I definitely don't want my block coming off while I'm driving down the road, that would be terrible. Thanks for the help.

So it doesn't clamp onto the post? How does it tighten then?

If it's stripped, it's no longer usable. Write it off and connect a cable that straps itself around the post. I'm not sure I understand. If you just bought them, then it's defective... it can't strip that fast.

I have no idea what's being discussed here. A pic would be worth a thousand words.

How's this??

Not exactly a battery block, but...

Oh man...that's priceless Donner!

Well, here is a google picture of the block, it has a hole in the bottom which is tightened by an allen screw, as well as a picture of one thats on someone else's random battery. I suppose I just lose yet again in terms of buying things, because its 100% striped, it just spins and spins, not moving anywhere. However, I do have another question in concerns to this topic. I have another one exactly like it on my positive terminal, with the LED readout, and it has a little blue wire, which I assume actuates the LED, but I have no idea what to hook it up to. As of now, I ghetto taped the negative terminal down, and I then tightened it with a ratcheting strap, so its pretty snug. I'll figure something out when i have some more time.

What do you need those things for?

Did you check to see if it is the set screw that is stripped or the threads in the connector block?
The other wire coming off of the POS led display is for the neg connection. You need a pos and neg to complete a power circuit.

A combination of cosmetic appeal and the fact that I'm going to do a Big 3 while keeping the stock wiring in place, so I need as many slots in my blocks as possible. Lol, ah good point fixxxer, wow I completely brain farted. As for the set screw, honestly I'm not too sure. I played around with it a little more today and noticed that it appears to allow the screw to backtrack, and go forward some, but it's not cooperating like the positive terminal block is. It moves in both directions and then just spins, so I'm not sure which is messed up, or if I can even fix it. Thanks again for all the input guys, I really appreciate it.

P.S. I just noticed that my Optima has side mount terminals as well, which leads me to question as to whether or not I can utilize both sets of terminals at the same time. If I can, that would be awesome, if not, oh well. :p:

Yes, you should be able to use the posts and the side-mounts at the same time.

All right, cool, now I can hook all sorts of stuff up. :D
