Ok, so here's what I've got.
Apparently I'm having issues with my fuel pump system. Not sure if it's the pump, or a relay, or a short in maybe the emergency shut-off.
Randomly (and more-so on hotter days) the truck just won't start after I've driven it. When I crank it up, it'll stutter and sputter and eventually die. No CEL or anything.
If I let the truck sit anywhere from 10 min upto an hour or so depending on how much I drove it before, it'll crank right up. When it does, there's no issues running or anything.
Strike that, I had it stall once now that I think about it. But besides that one time, no issues running it.
During the times when it's not starting I won't hear the fuel pump priming. That first made me think it was the pump itself, but I don't wanna drop $100 for the part, plus labor (even though it'd be cheap through a friend) for something that may be like a 10-20 part. I've noticed a few people mention the relay.
Are these symptoms indicative of a bad relay? maybe a short or something? I was thinking at first maybe a bad connection, but on the times when it doesn't start I don't do anything and eventually it starts, so I can't imagine that it'd magically re-seat itself. Plus if it was a loose wire I'd imagine having more stalls etc as some of the roads I drive are pretty rough.
Shooting in the dark, is there some sort of sensor that cuts it off if something is running too hot or something? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I just hate to dump the money for a pump, plus take the time off from work to get it done, only to find it not be the issue. Can't really afford that right now.
