Hi! my car is a 2010 Explorer Sports Trac with 19000 miles on it. At right about 12000 (give or take) miles it started making a noise on the driver’s side when I go above 45 mph. It seems to be doing this for a little while during the warmer days and while driving on the highway, but every time I head to the dealer to show them it stops. I did ask about it once and they said it would be hard to troubleshoot since it isn't constant and no warning lights come on. Anyway, to me it sounds like the high pitched beeping/whistle sound during a hearing test (but it doesn't change tones). Has anyone had or herd of this before. Thanks!!

Beeping/whistle sound

I think you have an air leak somewhere at speed. I once had a Honda Ridgeline that developed the same type noise on the passenger side. I spent several weeks looking around and finally found the noise suppression foam that is put at the rear of the fender at the door opening had moved. The Sporttrac has the same foam, just open the door and look at the rear of the fender to see it. I readjusted mine and the noise stopped. Just an idea! Good luck.:)

My rear right door does not fit as well as I like. There is a small air gap that whistles over 65. The dealer mechanic told me it was the rack. But not so. Pull the door in a little it quits, or roll the window down a inch it quits. One of these days I may put something under the rubber to build it up a bit. Maybe not, I have 38,000 miles and have done nothing yet.
