hey guys, i have a little bit of a problem or problems here. I am 16 and had this explorer as a project car for some time but it is not street legal yet so i drive it up and down my 900 foot drive way and wanted to lift it but i am also on a limited income. so any way i took the explorer for a little spin and the first thing i noticed was anti-freeze/coolant coming form the bottom of the engine(that is where it is dripping from i dont know where it starts) then i noticed that the temperature gauge would rapidly spike and then fall. The next thing that got me a little ticked of was the 4x4 not working. I had done alot of research and narrowed it down to the transferr case motor, and got i out a new one on and for a while it worked and today it decided to quit on me. so my question is with 190,000 miles, minor engine nock only 500-600 bucks in it what should i do. should i get 400-500 for it from a couple of srap guys i had previously called and start a new project of keep going. i know in the end it will be personal prefrence but i just wanted to get some advice from some more intellegent explorer guys. and possible information is greatly apprectiated and sorry for the lenghth of it. thanks again

Too many miles, not enough cash and a lot of problems= scrap yard.Take my word for it ,been there and done that at 53.Wait until you have a job and some cash and buy a ready to go explorer that runs and is street legal.I have owned all of the old, rusty, knocking ,half running junk in the past with no change to fix them. It's an endless, expensive affair.:D

hey thanks and i think that is what i will do. I really wish i could fix it but with the money i have and the knowledge i lack for fixing the car i really think it is better if i junk it.
