I am buying a 3" body lift and then 33x11.5 BFG muds in a few weeks. Can my local tire shop do the speedo recalibration so I don't have to spend an extra $170 on the thing to do it myself?

if they have the little gear that will make it think it is right.... also 33s... thats going to be hard to spin on stock gears... and 33s probably arent going to fit with only a 3" bl.... the thing that costs $170 is the calibrater i think and isnt available for your year explorer anywyas

I've already looked into it. The calibrator is available. I will just call the tire place and ask. I will prolly run 32's now since youi told me that

Yup, with only 3" of lift 32x11.50 with some trimming.

I dunno what calibrator your shop is talking about, but what you really need is a $7 speedo gear from Ford.

yea, all u need is the gear, its about 7-10 bucks, just go to the dealership to get one

yea, I read on this site that you will need a 20 tooth gear intead of the stock 19, is that right?

that's assuming your stock gear is 19.
