I recently had the blend door problem repaired but the problem I have now is I only have half-power defrosters. Does anyone know what the solution is for this problem? someone told me it's a code thing and somehow I don't believe him.

reading thru some of the older posts I have found that the problem may very well be some kind of diverter problem. Anyone know about these things?

Somewhere on here I saw a post about something similar sounding, can't find it now. I had same type of problem and fixed it myself. On passenger side take out glove box and look up towards center console and move switch to choose which vent you want use. There is a actuator looking thing probably has a diaphragm in it that moves a lever that controls some kind door. The plastic part that hooks to a metal piece was broken, I was able to put screw in it and was fixed. Sorry I don't know the name of all parts, or can't find the post I read, it had pics and everything. You'll know what I'm talking about when you see it if it's broken while moving that switch around. Good luck hopefully that's it (easy fix)

Thanks for the reply

I talked to my fav mechanic, and he told me to have the prob diagnosed and he can tell me if he can fix it. The part that is not working is more thaan likely run thru a vacuum system and was advised that the vacuum system prob has a leak and thats why its not operating the way it should.

Same problem with my 04 explorer. Plenty of heat and air from the dash vents. Just can't get air flow to the defrost. When idleing the vacuum sounds when I change the selector knob sounds correct. In other words, I can hear the vacuum hiss for a few seconds then go quite.
I'm ready to take action, but from many years of working on vehicles I have learned to do my homework and gain knowledge before making things worse or doing unnessesary work. I have never owned an explorer before so it's new to me
Please help us.

Well, its a problem i'll have to leave for the warmer weather. In Buffalo in the winter you really don't want to tinker too much witht these things. In the warmer months i'll try to fix it and post whatever I might find. Thanks for your reply. It's kinda funny though, you don't think about these things till you need them and when you don't you tend to forget about them. This and the liftgate sensor problems are both that will be fixed before next winter.
