Okay, so earlier today I noticed that the truck shuddered when accelerating from a stop. Today, on my way home from school, the Check engine light started blinking, so I pulled over and **** it off to look in the manual. That was no help. I had my mom come drive to where I was, and followed her home, and it literally was shuddering non stop on the way home. I've heard it could be a cylinder misfire, but what else could it be?

I have the 5.0 V8, AWD, 4R70W if that matters

Flashing CEL usually means a misfire. You need to read the codes to know what is going on.

Code scanners can be had cheap (< $50 at Harbor Freight tools)) or you can get fancy ones @ $120 up to $1000s

If you can drive it safely to your local chain auto parts store they will usually rent you a code reader (leave them your license as you use it). They used to scan it for you but now you do it yourself.

Anyway, your going to probably find a 3xx code (misfire code) which will tell you which cylinder is having the issue but not what is causing it.

I'd first check for a loose or burnt spark plug wire (lying against the exhaust maybe?). You can do that even before you check your codes/pending codes.

If you have any other codes they might be the reason of the misfire but you need to read them to know where to look.

Well the solid check engine light has been on for almost 8 months now. I pulled two codes before, and it was only because of my exhaust leak (a separate issue.....?). That was a borrowed scanner, my uncle is coming over later tonight to get the codes.
