Blinking LED???

Wasn't sure where to put this....

I was wondering if I could do this....

Take a red LED and hook it up to the blinking "THEFT" on my 2000 sport and drill a small hole in the dash someplace and stick the LED there, making it look like i have an alarm.....i know LED's are only like 2 volts or something like that......I heard I would need to hook up some type of a resistor of some kind? Can someone help me out?

you could just by a nlinking led at radioshack and hardwire it into the car on a switch so it isnt on when driving

Thinking about it, the easiest thing to do is this: Get a blinking LED and a relay that turns on when the switch circuit is not energized. Then just get power and ground from somewhere, and use an ignition hot wire for the switch circuit.
