Has this been done before by anyone on this forum?

Boat speakers, in the wheel wells, or just hidden speakers on the outside of the explorer?

I think it would be cool for parties or whatever.

Anyone have ideas on what I would need to make this happen? I am clueless but I think it would be cool.

Seperate headunit or just a switch to send all the sound to the outside?

Amp?

Idk tell me what you think :D

that actually sounds like a good idea. when i am with my friends chillin outside around a fire at night in the summer we usualy just roll all the windows down and play it but it isnt the same. but i would def use marine speakers.

i wouldnt put the speakers in the wells because of the debris and dirt/mud that might get up in there. i would look into putting them under the car hidden from debris, maybe in the rear bumper you could mount 2 because it is hollowed out (atleast on 2nd gens it could work). maybe around the spare tire possibly.

you could use 2 amps, one for the inside speakers and one for outside and just run each one on a switch and use the correct one for the correct time.
just get a rce splitter so you have 2 sets of RCA cables and run on to each amp.

Sounds like a good idea...back with my 92 explorer I used a normal speaker as a pa system speaker put it in the front wheel well it got hit with little stones and mud and never caused a problem, but I would consider putting them within the bumper areas as stated since you're actually going to put time into them. I personally wouldn't waste the money on another head unit I would use a 3way toggle switch to switch the power output to either the internal or external speakers.

that be cool. or maybe along the frame rail possibly. right now all i have is PA system / siren.

perhaps either get an inverter and hook up a home stereo or get a huge sound system

you can also goto a local second hand store and get speakers. they are cheap in the savers around the corner from my house. but the resistance on the speakers is higher than the car amp has so you need a home stereo amp though but they are cheap speakers

Expensive but guaranteed for life

Alot of guys in montgomery, Al have a horn right behind their front grill. Not really sure how to wire it up but I have seen it done. It's pretty loud too! or can be anyway. My cousin has a switch on his that lets him turn the horn on and off.

Why not just put more speakers inside? :) haha! Get 4 6x9's custom enclosure mount it in the rear on the roof and when ever u wanna bump some tunes just open the rear window. Yup. Imo putting speaker outside the vehicle is cheesy...
