Hey guys. I am having a really hard time trying to find a Borla app. to fit my 98 Sport OHV. Anyways, I was just gonna order the Borla muffler and have Midas install it and put new 2.25" pipes in it straight out the back with the Borla tip. Would it sound the same just about as a true Borla cat-back or not cuz it wouldn't be the "lazy S" or whatever they call it.

i thought the lazy s was actually the muffler design. that should sound pretty close to the way the system sounds. unless you had, one on the a car and then swithched to the other i doubt you could tell the difference.

Be sure that the Borla you order has one inlet if you want it to bolt up to your factory converter. Both the SOHC and 5.0L mufflers have two inlets so you wouldn't be able to use them unless you changed the entire front of your exhaust.

That's how I had mine set up. I couldn't afford the whole cat-back so I bought the muffler and the tip. I paid $130 instead of the $445 they want for the whole system. I had the shop I went to bend a pipe straight out the back. And check out Polarg bulbs for you clears. My friend put them in his clears and it is real hard to tell there is even a bulb there but at night they are orange.

Lazy S is the actual inside of the muffler design (you can see right through it). It won't sound the same, the nature of waves means that anything with different piping will sound different. It should however still have the real low frequency "grumble" b/c that comes mostly from the muffler. just make sure the shop doesn't pinch the piping too much bending the stuff. dunno how feasible, but you could always order some mandrel bends from borla or another place to be used in a custom exhaust.
