Hey guys!

Alright so right now my Trac is the worst get-a-way car because of the fact that my key wont unlock my locked doors when I insert it into the door lock. I can giggle the key or just do a forced turn and it still wont unlock on either the driver or passenger side door. Any ideas? I am having to now use the punch pad to get into the car because I don't have the key fobs.

Would it be expensive to replace the door locks/I don't really know what to do.
Thanks,

J.B.

Will the key not turn in the lock or just not unlock the door? Is there any resistance when turning the key (if it will turn) ?

Used key fobs are a dirt cheap. Why don't you have one? I couldn't do without one now.

Yes, the key won't turn inside the lock. I don't have key fobs because my dad lost both of them... haha and he wasn't going to pay for new ones and I never had any issues without one until now.

So, the keys have been working for you? If so then someone must have been trying to jimmy your locks to get in & fubar-ed the cylinders.. Doesn't make any sense to have the key to stop working in both locks at the same time & still work in the ignition switch.

Yup, they have worked in the past, obviously haha. It wasn't until last week that I noticed that I had to jiggle the key a little bit to turn and unlock the door(s). Now the key won't turn/unlock the door(s) at all.

Are the door locks expensive to replace? If it's a case of someone trying to break in then that is real ****ty. Especially when there are nicer cars in the driveway that I share at school. Someone mentioned that I should just grease the locks with some PB blaster I believe... Could the lock have "locked" up? haha

Lock lubricant would be better, now, that cold weather is arriving.
I experienced a similar problem a few weeks ago. My solution at the time was to spray P.B. Blaster on the key and insert the key in each lock a couple of times to lubricate the lock, then, turn the key in each lock to work the lubricant around. Blaster worked great to free up the locks which had been binding to the point I was afraid the key might break-off in the lock. I used Blaster because that was what I had in the workshop at the time.
I would not recommend spraying blaster directly into the lock.
The ST has been stored in the garage when I have not been using it, in the time, since I used the Blaster and the weather has been warm. I may have escaped the ill effects of cold thickened Blaster in the locks. Do not use WD40 instead of Blaster, it will serve to clean the locks after initially lubricating them and your problems will rapidly return.
