boxes and what can go in them???

Well im new at this audio thing but i was wondering what kind of box would be good to go right behind my back seat in the back so it will go across the back over the wheel wells and be slanted like a slope! What could i put in something like that does there need to be anything special about it? and if anyone has something like that could you post a pic? i saw it in a expedition at a car show and it was the ****!

a ported box with two good 12" subs would sound nice.

i'm not sure i understand the question, but it should be braced very well. and made out of at least 3/4" MDF. and make sure there are no air leaks.

It'll depend on the space you wanna give up, and if you want your rear cargo cover to still be able to be mounted. If you want the box lower so the cargo cover can go on, you'll obviously have to make the box longer to cover more cargo space. Usually, subs that use less room cost more, so that's about all I can say.

Why does it need to be sealed? and do you suggest any good 12" subs? and do i need a amp?and where would i hook it up too in the back? thanks

It doesn't have to be sealed, but they sound a lot cleaner and the bass is way tighter. You'll need an amp. At least 100 RMS/Continuous watts per sub. That's not too hard to find for pretty inexpensive nowadays...

Also, air not only depends on the size of the sub, but the distance it can travel, so you might have a good ten, or even an eight that could outperform a 12. So keep your eyes and ears open!

I had a question, i know its sort of off the subject. Anyone who has a 2001 explorer tell me why the back is so high up? theres not real deep trunk space. Its annying.
