Brake Booster Replacement - any tips?

I plan to replace the brake booster on my 03 Explorer XLT and wonder if anyone has any advice or tips for me? My brakes function fine, but the original booster drum is rusty and looks bad. I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere on the site, but a search didn't find relevant results. Thanks.

I have an 03 project V6 XLS that has a leaking brake booster. I haven’t started that project yet. Still stops fine. Loud hissing and mushy pedal feel.

I’d highly recommend taping the area off, cleaning and painting it.

If it’s not broken, don’t invite other potential issues that may occur when replacing it.
